Teacher Appreciation Week – Day 3 – 5
The other day, I was reading a blog and they had the BEST IDEA and since then, I’ve been telling everyone. It’s a great gift idea and so I made it for Teacher Appreciation Week. Take a picture frame, use some scrapbooking supplies and make a customized dry erase board! Here’s what I made for Grace’s teacher.
I was pressed for time so on Thursday, I gave her a mini rose bush and Friday the other room mom was going to do a gift basket, so I’m sorry I don’t have five projects to show, but I had a BLAST making them and judging by Grace’s teacher’s comments, she enjoyed them as well (I hope!).
Teacher Appreciation Week – Day 2
Today I kept it simple, due to lack of sleep. Haven’t slept through the night for about two weeks, I wake up for a couple of hours each night. Happily though, I slept straight through last night and I’m in shock, my body doesn’t know what to do with eight hours of rest! Anyhoo, I worked on this project yesterday and it was embarrassingly easy.
I had some wooden door hangers and some chalkboard paint, sooooooo, I combined the two and added chipboard stickers at the top. The thought being the teacher could write a message on the door hanger and hang it on the door. Simple, but hopefully useful. What do you think? I’m still looking for gift ideas as I have three more days to go!
Teacher Appreciation Week Day 1
Hey there! I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that I have to take a sabbatical from Stampin’ Up! until I find a new job. The good news is that I can now post and blog about whatever I want, Stampin’ Up! products, active or retired, or other products. I’m excited because there are a lot of papers and stamp sets that I loved that are retiring. I really miss Stampin’ Up! already, and it’s only been a week. It’s a great company and the ladies in my group are the best ever, especially my upline, Belinda Johnson (order from her here!!) but I just couldn’t afford to feed my addiction, so I’m concentrating on using up my old supplies so I can make room for the new.
That being said, I have to share the project I made yesterday!
It’s Teacher Appreciation Week and as I’m co-room mom for Grace’s 1st grade class, I made this for her wonderful teacher! It’s a desktop organizer. The cardstock and paper are all Stampin’ Up, even the ribbon and punches used. The only thing different is that I used a cutting file and my ecraft to cut it. I got the template from here. It was so easy to do! Just send the files to my ecraft cutter much like sending something to print, then put it together. On the site where I downloaded the file, she has some really cute variations of the project, but I went with elegant instead of school room. Hope it was okay, I’m dying to hear from Grace how her teacher liked it. My goal is a project a day, so let’s see if I make it!
The back pocket has little Rolodex dividers cut from cardstock and labeled the days of the week. I had some jumbo paperclips I decorated with a few quick punches and I also used my punches to make a quick pencil flower bouquet. The front pocket has smaller index dividers that she can label as she wishes, and the bottom drawer is full of Hershey’s Kisses, because when dealing with a class of 6 and 7 year olds, who DOESN’T need chocolate?
Below are some close ups for details.
Here is a close up of the pencil bouquet.
Here is a side view.
I should apologize, I was in such a hurry, I sat it on my stove in my kitchen and snapped pictures before racing out the door. Now you know how messy my burners are!
I’d love to hear what you think about the projects or what you’ve done for Teacher Appreciation Week. I’m open to ideas!!
Easter Egg Treat Holder
Hello! I’m still alive and Stampin’! Although in this post, I’m probably being a bad girl because I’m featuring something I made that wasn’t done with 100% Stampin’ Up! products, but I’m so thrilled with it that I couldn’t help but share it.
I cut the images using my new love, my eCraft cutter. I won it on another crafting blog and although I received an email saying I won, I thought it might be a scam. I mean, I NEVER win anything. Well, imagine my surprise when the package came via UPS! I was THRILLED! And instantly fell in love! I have a Cricut Expression, and I really, really struggled with it. I hated being confined to expensive cartidges and used Sure Cuts a Lot and learned to make my own cutting files, or I’d buy something I needed online for $1. But my Cricut would never load the cutting mat, and don’t get me started on the pain of having to buy cutting mats all the time, or then the paper sticking to the cutting mat and making pulling the cut images off the sticky mat or the paper tearing. But now I’m FREE AT LAST! The eCraft cutter uses NO mat, and you can buy their cutting files, which are loaded onto an SD card, or you can use their FANTASTIC software (love it more than Sure Cuts a Lot) and create or download and import your own. It literally pulls in paper either from an attached tray or you can actually take a scrap of paper and move the cutting blade exactly where you want it and it will cut just fine. You get an indicator light that confirms a clean cut, it’s easy to change blades and did I mention it will also cut AND draw at the same time? I’ve already used it more in the past two weeks of ownership that I have with my Cricut in the past two years.
So, moving on to the project, this cutting file was one I purchased on SVGCuts.com. The paper isn’t Stampin’ Up! but the cardstock is, as well as the lace ribbon, rose, stamped image on the tag and the glitter. I’m sharing this one for funsies. Take it as you will and let me know what you think!
Happy Easter to everyone and I vow to be better about crafting and sharing more. Happy crafting!

Just For You!

I made this card for our group swap. I actually CASED it, which means I copied it from someone else, but it was so pretty, I HAD to make it. The flowers are actually made from a single punch, and the paper for the flower, and for the background, are from an old book. It felt wrong to be tearing pages out of books, but it also felt a little bit daring. Yeah, I’m a rebel, I walk on the wild side, I know! How the mighty have fallen!
Anyhoo, I’m really pleased with the results. What do you think?

Watercolor Trio Class
Yes, I’m still here and still stamping! It’s been a crazy busy summer, especially August with getting my baby ready to start Kindergarten! But that’s a blog post for another day. Anyhoo, our Stamptastical Adventures classes started back up and we will be meeting the last Saturday of the month from 10-12, enjoying brunch, mimosas, gal talk, and of course, STAMPING! Last Saturday, I taught the gals how to watercolor beautifully, even if you can’t paint worth a darn (like me!) Here are the cards we made (I made an extra set for one of the gals who was sick, and you know who you are!)
It was so much fun and so easy! The September class will be all about Halloween and getting ready with a cute little framed picture, treat box and cards. The class will be on September 25, at 10:00 a.m. so watch this blog for more details!
Paper Pansies!
I saw this on another blog and thought it was simply gorgeous. I didn’t have the re-inkers in the colors I wanted to use,
but I found if I squeezed my closed stamp pad together, there was enough ink on the lid to use to paint the pansies. It’s made with the Butterfly punch and it was so fun and easy! Thank you Dawn for sharing your video on this technique! Her blog is AMAZING!
Eggcoutraments Class
I was downloading pictures off of one of our digital cameras and found these. I realized I forgot to post the pictures
from our March class! We made an adorable Easter card box and candy box (not shown, but same bunny type, just smaller) and eight CUTE Easter cards. It was one of our member’s birthdays and so we had brunch with mimosas. Nothing like champagne and stamping! How did we do?
Class Rescheduled
Due to scheduling conflicts, tomorrow’s class has been rescheduled for next Saturday, May 1. There’s still time to sign up as I have a few slots left. Simply email me to sign up. Thanks!
