This is a project I made for a swap I did last month and it features the Cool Treats stamp set and the Celebrations Duo Textured Embossing Folders. It’s a simple looking card but actually, has two different stamping techniques involved. I am not sure if you can tell from the photo, the word “Celebrate” on the card is debossed, not embossed. What that means is that typically when you emboss, you are pushing the paper up, almost like a braille or raised texture that you can feel. When you deboss, you push the paper in. To make this card, I actually ran the Whisper White cardstock through the Big Shot using the Celebrations Duo Textured Embossing Folders and then I had a card front where the word Celebrate was pushed in. If I flipped the cardstock over, it would be backward but the text would be raised. After that, it was a matter of stamping the images and adding embellishments. What is nifty about this technique is that you can still stamp over the embossing and you get a resist effect as the ink won’t appear where you’ve embossed.
I also played a bit with one of the brand new In Colors called Lemon Lime Twist. I must admit, that color is growing on me. I wasn’t too crazy about it at first and thought it was just some neon yellow-green but it’s really more a spring green in my opinion. It works great with several colors and I’m rapidly becoming a fan. The other colors I used were Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry for the popsicles and Tip Top Taupe for the handles. To get the different shades the popsicles, I stamped off on a piece of scratch paper and stamped the shape of the popsicles and then for the stripes or lines, I straight stamped. It’s a great technique to get variations of a shade of ink and to stretch your supplies and the second stamping technique featured in this project. Some Bermuda Bay ribbon and Metallic Sequins to embellish and a card is born….or created?! I hope you like it regardless!
