Holiday Catalog Detailed Gate Thinlet Die Friendship Card

Welcome to the Anything but the Holidays blog hop! If you have been following along, you have arrived from Candice Fields’ blog. Wasn’t her project simply wonderful? It’s always tough to follow after a super talented person has blown everyone away with their gifts, so I am hoping my project is up to par! For my project, I wanted to do a friendship card with the Detailed Gate Thinlet die set in the Holiday Catalog

For this project, I used Silver Foil paper for the Detailed Gate Thinlet Dies in the Holiday Catalog and stamped the floral images and the sentiment from the Lovely Friends stamp set in the Annual Catalog. The flowers are stamped in Powder Pink, Blushing Bride and Soft Sky and Marina Mist.  I cut the flowers from the Lovely Laurel Thinlet Dies, which is available with the Lovely Friends stamp set in a bundle for 10% off. The card base is from Powder Pink, one of the newest In Colors, followed by Marina Mist and Whisper White cardstock.  The leaves are from the new Leaf Punch in the Holiday Catalog. I embellished with Basic Pearls and Powder Pink 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon. I decided to tie the card closed with the ribbon.  I wanted something feminine and sparkly for my friendship card, and I hope you like it! Here is the inside of the card:

The Holiday Catalog was release last Friday, September 1 and you can download and view it by clicking here or my emailing me to request a copy be mailed to you. I would love to be your Demonstrator and answer any questions you may have about the products or help you host a Stampin’ Up party to explore all the wonderful new products in the Holiday Catalog.

The next step on the blog hop is Teri Wells . Sneak Peek: NEW Holiday Catalog Snowflake Sentiment Card

Holiday Catalog Sneak Peek of Snowflake Sentiment Bundle Available Starting Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is the launch of the new Holiday Catalog and to celebrate, all this week I’ve been offering sneak peeks and some of the products and projects you can make from items in the new catalog. Today wraps up the series with this Christmas card that uses the Snowflake Sentiment bundle with gorgeous snowflake stamps from the Snowflake Sentiment stamp set and matching Swirling Snowflake Thinlit Dies that are so intricate and gorgeous! I also used the new Foil Snowflakes and Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper. To make this project, I started with a card base of Whisper White Thick Cardstock for the card base and I stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment in Versa Mark on a scrap of Whisper White. Next is a layer of the Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper and then I ran Gold Foil paper through the Big Shot with the Snowflake SEntiment Thinlit Dies twice to make the gold foil “borders.” I decided to place a layer of Vellum to tone down the images a bit so that the Foil Snowflake and sentiment would really stand out. I heat embossed the sentiment in Gold Stampin’ Embossing Powder and cut it out with an oval die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits and assembled.

Sneak Peek: Halloween Card Featuring NEW Spooky Cat & Labels to Love

This week we are highlighting new items in the Holiday Catalog that goes live THIS Friday. So excited!!! This card features two different stamp sets and some new patterned paper! The tree image is actually from the Spooky Night Designer Series Paper and then I stamped the Owl from the Spooky Cat Photopolymer Stamp Set in Basic Black ink. It matched the tree image on the patterned paper perfectly and then I highlighted the Owl eyes and the Happy Owl-oween sentiment in Whisper White ink over the Basic Black. The Spooky Cat stamp set is part of a bundle and includes an adorable cat punch which I really wanted to include with this card, but it didn’t seem to work. The Owl hat is cut from the Spooky Night Designer Series Paper as well.

The black and white layer behind the Owl is actually Basic Black cardstock and I used the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and Embossing Paste to create some texture. While the Embossing Paste was drying (which only took two minutes, max), I stamped the striped background in Pumpkin Pie ink on Pumpkin Pie paper and stamped the sentiment from another new stamp set, Labels to Love, in Basic Black and Pumpkin Pie as well. I punched out the sentiment with the Everyday Label Punch. So handy to have and with the new stamp set called Labels to Love that works beautifully with the punch and features tags and sentiments for every holiday, it is definitely a must-have!

After that, it was a matter of putting the card together with a Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock base, a layer of Basic Black, then Pumpkin Pie and Embossed Basic Black and the stamped Owl layer. I used some Basic Black Solid Baker’s Twine and the new Vintage Crochet Ribbon to embellish the stamped sentiment and the new Black Rhinestones to embellish the Owl’s hat. So fun to put together and making this card got me super excited for Halloween!

The new Holiday Catalog comes out this Friday and I will post it online here for you to download or view online. Also, if you would like a copy mailed to you, click here to request one or email me.  I guarantee you will be blown away by the new goodies in this catalog!

CARD: Orange Blossoms Friendship Card

Hey Friend! I love the sentiment on this card featuring the Orange Blossoms Photopolymer Stamp set from the Annual Catalog. This card is a great example of just how far a great stamp set can get you. For instance, this project doesn’t have any patterned paper beyond what is stamped, the sentiment is stamped, and the Pool Party background is embossed with the Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I added a Lace Doiley for some glamour and finished it off with some Whisper White Thick Bakers Twine and White Perfect Accents. This is a great stamp set for all occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, or my favorite, just because. Hey Friend indeed!

CARD: Jar of Love

The Jar of Love card is a continuation of a concept featured in the 2017 Occasions catalog and it was so popular that it appears in the Annual Catalog as well. It’s such a cute stamp set and can be used in soooo many ways! In this project, I used Vellum to simulate the inside of the “jar” and water, but I’ve seen it done with clear window sheets and a shaker card, or a regular mason jar, etc.  This card also features the Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, another new favorite. This embossing folder is fantastic for adding texture and variety to a project and can be used for just about any theme or occaision.

Also in the Annual Catalog is Sharing Sweet Thoughts (below right) another stamp set that also works with the Everyday Jars Framelits Dies. (below left). Center is the Jar of Love stamp set.

Happy Eclipse! Pocketful of Sunshine Card!

Happy Eclipse Day! I hope you all get to enjoy this historic event and if you do watch, that you have safe eye shields! While the sunglasses in this project are cute, I guarantee they will NOT protect against eye damage from the eclipse! This is a bundle called Pocketful of Sunshine and features the Pocketful of Sunshine Photopolymer Stamp Set and Pocket Framelit Dies. This fun and sassy stamp set is sure to dazzle you as it features a pocket which is the perfect size for giftcards, cash, or other treasures. You’ll love this as much as the jingle jangle sound of coins in your pockets! The Pocketful of Sunshine Photopolymer Stamp Set features 20 stamps and the Pocket Framelits Dies includes 19 pieces, so this is a huge bundle! Create die-cut accents in seconds with Framelits dies and the Big Shot. Framelits’ open design allows you to place them where you want for precise cutting. Creates a 3D pocket, perfectly sized for money, gift cards, etc.

For this project, I used Dapper Denim cardstock for the pocket and distressed it with Night of Navy Ink. The sunglasses are on Tip Top Taupe with Early Expresso Ink. The “money” is on Garden Green cardstock with Old Olive Ink and Coffee Break Designer Series Paper round out this card that is perfect for birthdays, or students heading off to college, gift cards, etc.

Beautiful Bouquet Bundle Brings A Beautiful Bunch of Blessings

Beautiful Bouquet Bundle Features 58 Items and Countless Possibilities

This card was a swap card I made using the Beautiful Bouquet Photopolymer Bundle in the Annual Catalog. If you love flowers or want a bundle with a lot of versatility, this is a great one to have. The bundle features the Beautiful Bouquet Photopolymer Stamp Set with 37 images to choose from AND the Bouquet Bunch Framelits Dies with 21 pieces as well. With sentiments for any occasion and countless ways to combine the floral images, this set will help you create beautiful bouquets that live on forever. So you get a ton of sentiments, gorgeous floral images that you can combine in a variety of lovely ways and this is a photopolymer stamp set!

I am often asked what I prefer, wood block, clear mount or photopolymer stamps. While I believe the choice is up to your personal preference and perhaps the type of project, here is a list of reasons why I choose photopolymer stamps whenever possible:

  • They are totally transparent for perfect image placement.
  • They have just enough “give” to create a perfectly stamped image every time.
  • They cling like crazy to our clear blocks so you don’t have to worry about slipping.
  • They save space—you need only one set of blocks for all your photopolymer stamps (blocks sold separately).
  • They come packaged in cases with images on the spine for easy storage and quick reference.

To sum it up, I guess it comes down to your preference. I tend to want complete control, to know exactly where my stamped image is going to be, so I like Photopolymer. I have seen some stampers who create absolute perfection with wooden mount stamps and others with clear mount stamps. Thankfully, Stampin Up offers all three types, so we never have to do without our favorites!

For this project, I played with a color combination that I wasn’t sure I’d like but I really learned to love. It features two of the newest In Colors, Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist. I paired those two colors with Pool Party and a color palette was created!

Finally, I stamped some of the images straight onto the Whisper White card front and others I stamped on a scrap of Whisper White and cut them out with the Bouquet Bunch Framelits. The framelits perfectly outline the stamped images and offer a wide variety of floral possibilities! I can’t wait to play with this bundle again! I wanted the colors to really be the main thing to catch the eye, but I do love sparkle, so I added some Basic Rhinestone Jewels for a little bling.

Shabby Chic Greeting Card

Daisy Delight Bundle Card With Shabby Chic Feel

One of the most popular bundles in the new Annual Catalog is  Daisy Delight. This bundle includes the Daisy Delight photopolymer stamp set and the Daisy Punch. Sadly, they are SO popular that for now, the Dasy Punch is sold out and is on backorder, but I will share here when it is available

for order again. You can still order the Daisy Delight stamp set and cut the daisy image out instead of punching. This project also features two of the newest Designer Series Paper packs, the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack (background of the card) and the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper (the floral paper). I punched it with the Banner Triple Punch and added it over the Lace Doilies. The center of the blue daisy is another of the newest additions to the Stampin Up product family, the Gold Faceted Gems. I wish you could see it in person, these embellishments really sparkle. Stampin Up also added Clear Faceted Gems as well. Talk about bling! The sentiment is from the Colorful Seasons stamp set and I punched it out with the Pretty Label Punch (another new product). For complete product details, look below.

I have to admit, the color palette was a bit darker than what I usually work with. I love blue and brown together and was trying for a rustic feel to the card. How did I do?
